For commercial vehicles the main target in engine optimalisation the reduction of fuel consuption 8-15% (with the same driving behaviour). The explanation of lower fuel consuption is that the optimised engine can move the vehicles weight more dinamically, the engine run more frequent with normal power than on top power and this ends up in economical usage.
